Practical Sustainability for Every Set

In The Media

We handle the technical side of sustainability so your crew can focus on the creative work. You get the tools and expertise needed to cut waste and lower emissions without sacrificing the quality of your production.

A close-up shot of a Zerobase mobile energy unit, a white shipping-container-style battery on a trailer. Several thick, multi-colored industrial power cables in green, red, and blue are plugged into a side control panel. The side of the container prominently features the logo 'ZEROBASE' and the tagline 'ENERGY RESILIENCY ANYWHERE' in blue lettering. The unit is parked on an asphalt surface outdoors, with a semi-truck trailer visible in the background on a bright, sunny day.

We're featured in the 2025 book 'Green Filmmaking: A Guide to Sustainable Movie Production'.

It’s great to see our work in film industry decarbonization recognized as a go-to resource for professionals. We're continuing to offer hands-on consulting using PEACH and PEAR worksheets, helping studios and production teams hit real sustainability targets and lower their environmental impact in every department.

Our Mission

Next Earth – Decarbonizing the Motion Picture Industry

Lena Welch, owner of Next Earth, specializes in decarbonizing physical film and television production using data-based optimization and cleantech implementation. Many people do not realize how much energy is used and waste generated during a film shoot, Lena’s vast knowledge base excels in cleantech, data collection & analysis, carbon reporting, strategy, budgeting, communication, and management. She can do it all and keep the waste out of production.

Supporting Film and TV Production Across Los Angeles

Our Long Beach Headquarters

Next Earth is based in Long Beach, giving us a central hub to provide specialized sustainability consulting throughout the Los Angeles entertainment industry. Our location means we can work side-by-side with studios and production teams from the first day of prep until the final wrap. We draw on our deep roots in the local production scene to help bridge the gap between traditional filmmaking and new decarbonization goals. Whether we are joining tech scouts to map out infrastructure or collaborating with HODs right on set, we provide the practical, data-driven guidance needed for modern productions to succeed while protecting the communities where we all live and work.
